Bay Area Walls
SFMOMA's Bay Area Walls initiative showcases site-specific commissions by regional artists responding to contemporary social issues and community concerns. The ongoing program features works by celebrated creators including cartoonist Gene Luen Yang, whose mural celebrates Bay Area basketball icons and their impact on the game; Jenifer K Wofford, honoring pioneering Olympic athlete Victoria Manalo Draves; and painter David Huffman, presenting his first monumental wall-scaled piece. These installations demonstrate how local artists use their distinct practices—from comics to figurative painting—to engage meaningfully with our shared cultural moment.
