Barbara Stauffacher Solomon: Strips of Stripes
Ongoing
Legendary designer Barbara Stauffacher Solomon brings her iconic supergraphics—bold, architectural letterforms that transform entire spaces—to SFMOMA's lobby in this striking new commission. Spanning walls and ceilings with energetic stripes and the letters "OK," the work bridges the museum's original 1996 structure with its 2016 expansion, continuing Solomon's six-decade practice of merging Swiss precision with California creativity. A pioneer who invented supergraphics in the 1960s and designed SFMOMA's program guides for a decade, Solomon returns to activate the public space with her signature large-scale vision.
