POINTS OF DEPARTURE

Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture launches Points of Departure this spring—an exciting new series celebrating the arts institutions and visionary figures that have shaped San Francisco's cultural landscape. Beginning with an immersive evening at Greens Restaurant exploring its evolution from Zen Center kitchen to farm-to-table pioneer, the season continues with Smuin Contemporary Ballet's behind-the-scenes look at choreographic creation, Stern Grove Festival's 89-year legacy of free music, and the San Francisco premiere of the acclaimed documentary American Pachuco, which chronicles playwright Luis Valdez's transformative impact on American theater. Each program blends panel discussions, archival materials, and live performances to celebrate Fort Mason's vibrant past while charting its course toward its 50th anniversary in 2027.
