Jacob Hashimoto: Giant Arc
Japanese artist Jacob Hashimoto transforms gallery spaces into dreamlike environments using thousands of delicate hand-crafted kites suspended in mid-air. Constructed from bamboo and paper, these ethereal installations—some monochromatic, others adorned with vibrant collages—create floating sculptural landscapes that dissolve the boundary between art and architecture. At SFMOMA, Hashimoto's monumental new work pushes the medium to unprecedented scale, enveloping the Roberts Family Gallery entirely in an immersive canopy of over 75,000 handmade elements that invites visitors into a world of weightless beauty and contemplative wonder.
