The Light We Carry Forward
Tahirah Rasheed's powerful new exhibition explores survival, resilience, and resistance through transformative works in glass, neon, and photography. Drawing from her own experiences navigating medical trauma and institutional harm, Rasheed creates a visual language that centers Black womanhood and refuses silence. Her practice treats glass as both material and metaphor—capable of breaking yet enduring through process—reflecting the contradictions and strength inherent in Black women's lived experiences. Grounded in conversations with theorists like Audre Lorde and bell hooks, this exhibition positions care as self-defense and healing as a radical political act, inviting visitors to witness unflinching truths about survival and the light Black women have always forged for themselves.
